Solar Collectors Generate600kW of Power

Solar panels are used to convert sunlight into electricity. Solar power is a renewable energy source, meaning it does not produce greenhouse gases or other pollutants. Solar power is also a sustainable energy source, meaning it can be used indefinitely without depleting the Earth's resources.

The Morris Group International® Chino, CA facility recently completed construction to add solar power to the building. The Chino plant is home to the Morris Group Innovation Center, Acorn GenCon, Acorn Beekeeping Equipment, ConTrols Mfg., and AcornVac. A total of 1,200 solar collectors were installed on the roof of the Chino facility. These collectors will generate 600kW of power with an option to expand to 900kW of power in the future. This will power 90% of the building's electricity needs, including lights, manufacturing equipment, testing rigs, and offices.

Chino was the ideal location to install a solar power collection system because it has a steady, even electrical load during the day. The facility in Chino also uses the most electricity out of all the buildings in MGI's California operations, making it the ideal facility to run on solar power.
